Speak Silentlyshan



Language is dying, silence is sought. 

Recalling the bean sprout observation diaries of my childhood, this project wants to listen to silent roar,  and seek the miracle of language in silence. I wrote a text by reframing the diary, recorded the voices of many reading aloud, created a book to explore the silent language, and made a flipbook to plant the silence.

In the book and two-channel sound, the process of growing bean sprouts is compared to the process of learning language. Chapter 1 Water: Fissures of Speech, a superficial silence; Chapter 2 Seeds: Calling with Imaginations,  rhetoric sowing poetic silence; Chapter 3 Life: Verses in Silence, the source of silence lying in life.

 "Language is the threshold to silence." Where is the door — to silence, silent language, speak silently…
